Antique reproduction Furniture.
Genuine quality antique pieces of furniture that are affordable now days are a rare commodity, why spend time trolling antique shops, and auction houses, instead let us quote you for an antique reproduction or you may prefer to opt for a piece made in the style of the period or designer desired.
Making an antique reproduction piece of furniture today using modern technology and materials combined with traditional cabinet making and polishing skills will ensure that today's antiques of the future are more tolerant of heat or humidity changes than an original antique and thus insuring that modern day antique reproduction pieces if made correctly will last for centuries to come.
The golden era of English furniture making that included designers such as Robert Adam, Thomas Sheraton and Thomas Hope. Today in the Charles Barr collection of furniture we have incorporated many of the styles and design features used by these three renowned important designers that were responsible for in part for the great flowering of furniture design in the 18th and 19th centuries known as the Regency period.
Mahogany has long been one of the cabinet makers favourite materials and as you will see Charles Barr's craftsmen well know how to emphasise its warm colour and varied graining many of the pieces from our mahogany collection retain strong Georgian influences, indeed we retain a deep mistrust of many forms of stylistic ostentation or exaggeration and remain loyal to the classical late Georgian style of furniture sought after by collectors of our furniture all over the world.
Our reputation for quality rests largely on our observance of traditional methods of craftsmanship even though we may well use modern production methods to achieve and maintain our traditional ideals
Many of our traditional dining tables for example are made in exactly the same way as the originals on which they were based, of course there are products within our collections that originate from present day use and requirements such as coffee tables , TV cabinets and audio hi fi furniture such pieces clearly do not owe there origins to past designers such as Chippendale or Sheraton but we hope they they would be happy in the way our designers today have adapted them to fit in with other traditional styles of our furniture.
